Contact Inc's Walking Neighbourhood hosted by children PosterFourteen children have collaborated with professional artists to curate a series of unique walks. Each walk is a reflection of their curiosities and experiences of Fortitude Valley. Walks may include telling stories, reading poetry, dealing with traffic, looking at architecture, graffiti, patterns and rubbish, dealing with shop keepers, local neighbours and those passing by.

This innovative project addresses children’s visibility in communities, while also tackling the harder task of building friendships and connections between children and unknown adults, ultimately supporting the greater resilience of the community.

The Walking Neighbourhood poster was created in conversations with Lenine Bourke, Leah Pabst and Karen Batten. The drawings are created by the children who participated in the project. Karen then designed the poster in 2012 based on this brief.
