Quotes will be tailored to your project needs, vision and available resources. Karen works on a sliding scale dependent on the resources of the client (e.g. not for profit organisations > small businesses > well funded projects). Karen also does professional hour for professional hour trades when possible. Costs also vary depending on if the project requires a consultative or collaborative process. Karen is interested in being involved with individuals, organisation and business in the grant writing process if there is a need to apply for funding for a project. Please do not hesitate to ask for a free no obligation quote.
Charging Options
There are two ways Karen charges

- Quoting – this is when a job is described and Karen quotes an amount (based on the hours required to do the job). The quote is honoured whether the job is completed in more or less time than quoted.
- Hourly rate – this is when clients pay for the hours that Karen works on their job without a quote. It is possible to attach a minimum and maximum time to give a guide.

The Details
- Quotations are valid for 6 months.
- If a client cancels or alters any part of the brief at any time after work has begun, additional costs or payment of work to date will be incurred.
- For quotations $1,000 and over the client shall make payment within the following terms:
- 50% deposit on receipt of quotation approval;
- 50% balance upon either of the following:
if a website, when site is posted live or;
if print work, for first job together: before finished work being handed to the client and/or forwarded to the nominated printer. For regular clients after finished work being handed to the client.
if workshops, when delivery of last workshop and debrief has been completed.
if the work has exceeded 6 months unless this was agreed upon in the original quote.
- All payments are to be made in full within 7 days of the date of invoice.
- For quotations under $1,000 the client shall make payment within the following terms:
- Unless otherwise negotiated, on first job together in full on receipt of approved quotation;
- Unless otherwise negotiated, for regular clients in full on receipt;
- All ideas, designs, concepts, artwork, compositions, symbols or logos prepared or developed by Karen shall be the property of the client after final payment is received. You will receive a google drive link of you work. It is your responsibility to keep a hold of the files for future designs.
- Karen may use any artwork/design for promotion and portfolio use and add an industry standard ‘designed by’ link to the client’s website. Karen’s ‘designed by’ link will remain for the life of the design except by negotiation. If a design is not appropriate for Karen’s promotion please make that known.
- Unless otherwise negotiated, the client must supply text for their project in text file format at the start of the project as well as graphics (logos, images, etc.) to be used. Text should be as close as reasonably possible to final format, with accuracy of content, spelling and grammar checked and little or no formatting (includes text from previous websites). It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that all text is owned and generated by the client unless referenced.
- Images are also expected to be supplied before work begins, unless by prior negotiation or if using Karen’s group image creation, photography or stock image services. Images should be supplied in the highest resolution electronic format possible, i.e. logos/images in original Illustrator/Photoshop format, or hi-res JPEG files (300 dpi). It is the client’s responsibility to ensure that all correct permissions have been sought and/or royalties paid for images used.
- Unless otherwise quoted or negotiated, projects over $1,000 include two rounds of changes or author’s revisions. Following two revisions per project, an additional hourly fee will be charged. For projects under $1,000 one round of changes are included, beyond which an additional hourly fee will be charged. Karen will advise you and seek your agreement before proceeding with any work that will incur additional charges.
- The client agrees to provide timely responses to Karen after receiving status notifications, work for review or requests for information. The client shall have 60 days to respond to each draft/request for information submitted. If the client has failed to respond after 60 days, Karen will deem the project on hold. At such time, the client shall pay all fees and expenses associated with the work performed. Unless otherwise negotiated, Karen will happily work on the project again within 6 months or the negotiated time.
- This does not apply until a brief has been obtained and you have gathered all the content needed for the design, this often is a bigger job than expected especially in the community sector.
