The Walking Neighbourhood

Redfern TWN posterThe Walking Neighbourhood (also called Walking Together) offers participants and audiences a new way to see and experience places and spaces. Children are in control of developing the artistic encounter, guiding an audience, navigating the physical space and sharing their experiences of autonomy and their world, all the while creating new friendships.

Karen has worked on The Walking Neigbhourhood in Brisbane in 2012, 2014, Sydney in 2015 & Melbourne & Borroloola in 2016. Karen has taken on various roles in each project and has been responsible for

  • poster design
  • departure lounge layout and design
  • working within design budget
  • leading bump in and pack up
  • working with young people to develop walks

Karen uses visual art, print & web design with individuals and groups using a collaborative approach. This happens using dialogue, workshops and/or training to facilitate creation through to the final product.

Karen mainly works in Turrbal & Jagera Country (Brisbane).
