WEB DESIGN
BRANDING
I design websites and visual communication for community organisations and small businesses. My work is shaped by long-term involvement in the communities I work with, and I offer training so organisations can maintain and adapt their designs independently over time.
Exchange :: Payment
Quotes are tailored to each project’s needs, vision, and available resources. I work on a sliding scale, depending on whether you’re a not-for-profit, small business, or a well-funded project.
Guarantee
Before we start working, I put everything in writing so we’re on the same page. If we can’t arrive at what you’re after, you won’t be charged for work that doesn’t meet the agreement.
Solidarity work
I live and work on unceded Aboriginal land and reserve part of my practice each year for solidarity-based work with First Nations–led and under-resourced projects.

About me
My name is Karen Batten. My ancestors are not from this place. They arrived by boat from England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany and Prussia between 1791 and 1901. I live and work on the stolen lands of the Jagera, Yugara, Yugurapul and Turrbal peoples.
Since 2002, I’ve worked as a freelance community worker, graphic designer, and web designer, using a collaborative approach. I’ve been working as a graphic designer since 1996.
I’m currently interested in equity in small groups, backyard resilience, and transformative justice. I’m a proud Uncle to the young humans and hounds in my life.
