How we are history

What impact does our family’s past have on our actions and values today and in the future?

The project explores why my ancestors left their homelands, the culture they brought to this continent, how this land shaped their identities and their transition from identifying with their homeland to an Australian identity. It also delves into the resistance of the Aboriginal people whose land is being occupied.

How we are history: The McCluskey, Brown, Berand, Lovegrove, Scott Family Story.

My father’s maternal ancestors are the McCluskey, Berand, Lovegrove and Scott families, who arrived by boat from Ireland, England and Prussia between 1808 and 1910. This story of that family is divided into two parts: my great-grandmother Ruby’s adopted and biological family.

Collection: 1 of 5 booklets (more coming). First edition distributed in January 2025.
